Bruzgi checkpoint upgrade to be over by 2nd European Games in Minsk
At present the checkpoint can handle 5,000 vehicles. When the upgrade project is completed, the throughput capacity of the checkpoint will increase by 900 trucks daily.
One of the major objectives of the project is to increase the number of entry and exit lanes. Up-to-date dimensioning systems for measuring size and weight will be installed. After passing a weights and measures inspection, a vehicle can undergo customs and border checks on one of the seven entry lanes and one of the six exit lanes. This will make the whole process faster, while the checkpoint will be able to handle two times more trucks. The checkpoint will also be fitted with an automatic number plate recognition system.
The renovation is done as part of the project “Upgrade of the transit corridor”. The project financing is estimated at over $4 million. The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development provided a loan to implement the project.
